Partnerships and Coalition Development
The Alliance participates in coalitions, partnerships, and special workgroups to address important health and social issues related to our young people. Adolescent Health Advocacy Day in March and NCSCHA Week in February, as proclaimed by the Governor, are examples of initiatives that educate and engage lawmakers, parents, students, school officials, and center staff in collaborative efforts.
The major partner in support of the work of school health centers is the School Health Centers Program in the North Carolina Division of Public Health. The state provides a portion of operational funding for nearly 30 of the school health centers through a granting process. The program office also oversees a “credentialing” process for all centers that bill for Medicaid and Health Choice to ensure that the highest quality of care is given to our young people. Alliance members often serve as credentialing peer evaluators in partnership with the state staff.
